Leo's Book Reviews is back! So, the first book that I finished for the month of May was Stolen Ice Bride by Angela J. Ford. This is the first book I've read of hers, but it is book five of the Stolen Brides of the Fae. Basic plotline is that Solvay is a woman in a town that the mages come to steal brides from for their power. She's is chosen as the mage bride for the king and says this can't happen because of who I am. All we know is that it's a secret who she really is and she runs away She ends up getting kidnapped by an ice lord named Ayden who is going to try and use her as a bargaining chip with the mages to save his people. So, this turns into a whole epic miscommunication and journey of Ayden and Solvay through the ice lands and gives you a really good twist at the end.
I enjoyed it the twist thoroughly and I probably would give it a three out of five. I wasn't sure about the writing. The plot was really good. The twist was really good. She did really good foreshadowing and all of that. It's just that the writing didn't really impress me a whole lot. My understanding is this is an older book of hers. I believe this was published five years ago. So, I'm hoping that she's improved since then. I may have to pick up one of her newer books to check it out. Honestly, this one has been sitting on my Kindle for quite a while. If I don't have a physical book in front of me, I tend to forget that I have that book ready to read.
If you want a good, epic romance with Fae and interracial characters and some beautiful cover art, I recommend it. It's a shorter read. It's got good romance. There is no spice in this one. Enjoy!
